A native of Chicago, Mike moved to Florida in 2020 after living in Washington D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia.  Mike has over 20 years of experience working in legal services, including working at both small and large law firms. 

Mike specializes in representing individuals and businesses in federal tax disputes. He acts as a dedicated advocate for taxpayers during IRS audits, administrative appeals, and collection matters. A seasoned litigator, Mike frequently argues cases before the United States Tax Court, having conducted over five trials since 2023. His litigation background encompasses a wide spectrum of tax controversies, ranging from substantiation cases to complex partnership disputes involving real estate investments and syndications.

Beyond tax controversy, Mike serves as a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and families. He provides comprehensive counsel on estate planning and guides small businesses through various legal complexities.

Mike has been consistently recognized by his peers for his expertise. He was named in the inaugural 2022 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Tax Law, and again in the 2023 through 2026 editions for both Tax Law and Tax Litigation and Controversy.

Mike lives in Sarasota and is the proud husband of Lucy and loving father of two girls, Margaret and Caroline.  In his spare time, Mike enjoys playing golf, boating, and relaxing in the Florida sunshine.
